**Access to Hachinohe**
Hachinohe City is situated 640km north of the metropolis of Tokyo, which can be reached in about three hours by Shinkansen, Super Express. Air service is also available between Tokyo (Haneda) International Airport and Misawa Airport (30km north of Hachinohe city) in less than 90 minutes. Hachinohe was established as a city in 1929 with a population of approximately 52,000. Within a three kilometer radius of the city are Public Halls, Public Library, Historical Museum, and Art Museum.

**Location of HIT**
HIT is located in a 37 hectare wooded height in the southern part of Hachinohe, Aomori prefecture, one of the most important cities in the Tohoku Area of Japan, also known as a highly productive fishing port. In the 14th century, the Nanbu Clan built a castle at Hachinohe. Hachinohe occupied an increasingly influential position during the Edo period. The designation as a New Industrial City in 1964 facilitated the development of Hachinohe, and in 1991, opened was the Hachinohe Core Industrial Park, so called High-Tech-Park, which is composed of a number of companies with highly advanced technologies. The population of Hachinohe is now over 240,000, a well-structured beautiful city still surrounded by nature. It provides the students with an ideal environment.
