Laboratory

Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Science
Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Science (RIIS) was founded on April, 2002, integrating the three existing laboratories.

This Institute conducts the researches of various engineering fields: mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, civil, architectural and information engineering, jointly or independently, along with the studies of humanities and social sciences, biology, environmental engineering and so on. Through the researches in this Institute, HIT is expected to make a further advance of each study field and contribute to the solution of local problems.

RIIS is now pursuing the following researches: the development of nanotechnology on water wheel generator, the supercritical fluid aided leaching technology, the mine detecting robot helicopter, the method of soil improvement and its evaluation, the prediction method of earthquake damage in Hachinohe area, the learning center for heavy snowfall area, the separation, purification and storage methods of hydrogen gas from unused agricultural, forestry and marine products, the research on comprehensive monitoring, treatment, and management technologies for the industrial waste in the boundary area between Iwate and Aomori prefectures, and so on.
