Hachinohe Institute of Technology Graduate School was established on April 1, 1995. It started its activities with the Division of Engineering which was composed of three Doctor of Science Programs: Mechanical Engineering Systems, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Civil Engineering, followed by Architectural Engineering Program in 1999. These fields are key technologies for the advancement of society.

Purpose and Philosophy of Graduate School Education
The educational purpose of the HIT Graduate School is to promote extensive and theoretical research through the close collaboration with the faculty. The unique features of HIT Graduate School education are to develop:

(a) fundamentals of natural sciences and engineering;
(b) the ability to utilize engineering methods and systematic thought processes which can be applied to the engineering environment;
(c) international communication skills in engineering profession;
(d) the ability to apply information technologies for engineering professions.
